Emergency Power Operation For Snorkel Boom Lifts

Emergency Power Operation For Snorkel Boom Lifts

When there is an issue or failure while operating a boom lift, operator safety is the foremost concern. While the emergency power unit can enable all lift operations, it is primarily designed to lower the boom and bring the operator to safety.

The emergency power unit is operated by 12v batteries. A momentary toggle switch, located on the upper and lower controls, must be held down to activate. It is important to note that emergency power controls should be tested daily to ensure proper operation.

In the event of an issue or failure of an internal combustion engine or main hydraulic pump, these emergency operation procedures should be followed for Snorkel AB and TB series and 400/600 series articulated and telescopic booms.

To fully engage emergency power operations, follow these steps:

Upper controls:

  1. Pull out the emergency stop (E-stop)
  2. Turn on the key switch (AB and TB series only)
  3. Depress the foot switch
  4. Actuate the required boom function
  5. Toggle the emergency power switch (Operator will hear the pump turn on)
